👤 Account & Authentication
→ How do I create an account?
Two options on the home page:
- Google OAuth (recommended): "Sign in with Google". One click, secure.
- Email + Password: "Create Account". Verification email sent.
You get 7 free days with full access after signup.
→ Can I log in with Facebook or Apple?
Not yet. Currently:
- ✓ Google OAuth
- ✓ Email + Password
Facebook and Apple ID are on our 2027 roadmap.
→ How do I reset my password?
Login page → "Forgot password?"
Enter your email. Reset link valid for 1 hour. Click and choose a new password.
→ How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → "Delete My Account"
⚠️ Irreversible. Your data will be deleted within 30 days. Cannot recover items or cashback.
📸 Receipts & Extraction
→ How do I add a receipt?
Home → "+ Add Receipt"
- 📸 Camera: "Take Photo"
- 📁 File: "Choose File" (JPG/PNG)
Huard auto-extracts your items.
→ What file format?
JPG or PNG. Max 10 MB.
💡 Pro tip: Clear, well-lit photos work best. Avoid shadows and glare.
→ Why doesn't OCR detect all my items?
Common reasons:
- Blurry or poorly lit photo
- Crossed-out items or illegible text
- Receipt cut off at bottom
- Product number unavailable
Solution: Add missing items manually ("+ Add Manually").
→ Are my receipts stored?
No. Photos stored temporarily (<1h) for extraction only.
Auto-deleted after processing. Only extracted items kept.
🔐 No one sees your photos ever.
→ Can I add items manually?
Yes! "+ Add Manually"
Fill in:
- Product name
- Price paid
- Purchase date
💰 Cashback & Alerts
→ How does cashback matching work?
Every morning (6am EST), Huard:
- 1. Scrapes Costco.ca cashback offers
- 2. Matches against your items
- 3. If match → alert sent
→ When do I get alerts?
Two automatic alerts:
- 3 days before: Cashback expiring in 3 days
- 1 day before: Cashback expiring in 1 day
Time to claim at Costco!
→ Can I disable alerts?
Settings → Notifications
You can:
- Disable cashback alerts
- Change email frequency
- Unsubscribe from newsletter
→ How much can I save?
Depends on your purchases and this week's Costco offers.
Generally:
- Active users: 5-15% per month
- Occasional: 1-5% per month
- Varies by season

→ What does Huard cost?
Free: 7-day full trial after signup.
PRO: $4.99 CAD/month after trial (optional).
Stay free forever and add items manually (no OCR).
→ Is there a free trial?
Yes! 7 free days after signup. Full access to all PRO features.
Zero credit card required for trial. We only bill if you stay after 7 days.
→ How do I cancel?
Settings → Subscription → "Cancel"
Takes effect immediately. Access kept through billing cycle.
→ Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days (Canadian right of withdrawal).
Email support@huard.app with your email and Stripe reference. After 14 days, no refunds.
🔐 Security & Privacy
→ Is my data secure?
Yes. Protected by:
- 🔐 HTTPS/TLS (encryption in transit)
- 🔐 Encrypted PostgreSQL (storage)
- 🔐 Bcrypt passwords (hashed)
- 🔐 JWT tokens (short expiration)
- 🔐 Protected API keys
→ Who sees my receipts?
No one.
Photos deleted after processing (<1h). Only extracted items kept. Zero human access.
→ Do you sell my data?
No, never. We never sell, exchange, or share personal data.

→ How do I unsubscribe from emails?
Two ways:
- "Unsubscribe" link at bottom of each email
- Settings → Notifications → Disable
🛠️ Technical
→ The app isn't working. What do I do?
Try in order:
- 1. Refresh page (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R)
- 2. Log out and log back in
- 3. Clear browser cache
- 4. Try another browser
Still stuck? Email support@huard.app
→ Camera isn't working.
Check:
- ✓ Camera permission granted to Huard
- ✓ Browser supports getUserMedia
- ✓ HTTPS connection (required)
- ✓ No malware blocking access
→ No cashback found for my items.
Normal! It means:
- Your items aren't on cashback this week
- Costco has thousands of offers, not all
- Offers change weekly
Check back next week or add more items.
